Feeling empowered in their body is every woman's birthright. As a Registered Herbalist (AHA), Women's Herbal Educator, and retired midwife experienced in several natural family planning methods, I am committed to helping you navigate your reproductive health and wellness through all life's stages.
When we work together, you'll have a trained professional partnering with you. I'll help you navigate the overwhelming amount of information out there and match you up with the best herbal allies, supplements, and nutritional approach that will help you move from surviving to thriving!
Not only that, but you'll end up with herbal medicine formulas that are designed and created UNIQUELY FOR YOU.
Ever since I was a teenager, I've embraced and advocated for a holistic approach to health. I have spent decades self-studying and immersing myself in everything I could find that would teach me about the myriad ways we could use plants to promote and sustain health and balance.
I completed my midwifery degree and was accredited as a Certified Professional Midwife in 2007. My attendance at more than 300 births reinforced in me a deep belief in the power of women's bodies and the wisdom of nature. Although I no longer have an active midwifery practice, my passion for expectant and new mamas deeply influences my herbal medicine practice.
I am a graduate of Dominion Herbal College (2019), and have completed further studies in herbal medicine, holistic pharmacology, TCM, nutrition, nutrigenomics, and herbal medicine for women's health under Dr. Aviva Romm, the Matthew Wood Institute of Herbalism, The Herbal Academy, Seeking Health Educational Institute, Pacific Rim College, and Wild Rose College of Herbal Medicine. I am a Registered Herbalist with the Alberta Herbalists' Association.
As a Certified Women's Herbal Educator and menstrual educator, I am trained and familiar with many versions of fertility awareness charting (Symptothermal, Creighton, Marquette) and am a strong believer in empowering every girl and woman to learn to read this "sixth vital sign" in their bodies.
I formulate herbal medicine to meet your unique needs. My garden is my happy place, and I grow a number of the medicinal herbs that are found on my apothecary shelves. What is not grown by me is sustainably sourced, organic, and ethically wildcrafted. I use teas, tinctures, powders, and topical treatments to deliver the healing benefits of herbal medicine. Because I make most of my own medicines, I am able to oversee the quality of my formulas, keep the costs down, and pass the savings on to you.
"For the birth of my fifth child, Heather gave me some 'Happy Healthy Mama Tea' to try. It was definitely my easiest birth yet, and I couldn't believe how quickly I bounced back after labor. It usually takes me a day or two to be able to walk well, but after this birth, I was up and able to make tea within minutes of giving birth. The recovery period was also a lot quicker and easier than I've ever experienced, with iron levels bouncing back to normal in record time.
I also swear by the Healing Hands Salve, which I've used on the whole family for everything from burns to bum rash. It is extremely effective, and I appreciate knowing that the ingredients are so pure and wholesome."

"My experience working with Heather at Fairfield Herbals has been excellent. She has been very helpful and has made me informed of the process, and what each specific herb does, along the way. I feel like we really are working together to achieve my health goals, as it should be! She has taken the time to look into everything from every angle and has even done extra research for me on the side! I've been suffering from an autoimmune disorder that's been constantly flaring in the past few years but in my 4 months since working with Fairfield Herbals my symptoms have eased and I've been starting to experience a quality of life and normalcy that I've been desperately wanting. I feel hopeful that working with Fairfield herbals will continue to help me gain balance on my journey toward better health so that I can truly live the life that God intended for me."

"This worked SO WELL for my "trial" with shingles last May. Nothing else that I tried would soothe the extreme itching and allow me to put a T-shirt on for sleep time. I truly believe the "trial" was shortened due to my use of this salve. Thanks, Heather!"

Holistic health is caring for the whole person. It is tending to your physical, mental, spiritual, and social needs, being aware of how all these aspects affect your overall health.
Herbal medicine, and holistic health practices in general, are based on a belief in the body's wisdom and innate ability to heal. The job of the herbalist or holistic health practitioner is to help you identify patterns of dysfunction and imbalance in your body and life, and tap into your healing potential. As a holistic herbalist, I consider all the relationships involved in creating health and balance in mind and body. With this in mind and working closely with you, a plan to access this potential and create balance is developed. The plan may involve herbal medicine and nutritional therapies, exercise, stress reduction techniques, and spiritual practices. In this way, the symptoms of your illness can be relieved, as well as the underlying cause.
Several Extended Health Care Insurance Plans provide additional coverage for Naturopathic Care, but herbal medicine is usually not included and needs to be paid out of pocket. It’s up to each client to check their policy for coverage options.
The government is interested in regulating professions that may pose a danger to the general public – because herbalism (when practiced with care and knowledge by a trained herbalist) is generally safe and carries minimal risk of side effects, the government is not interested in regulating at this time.
As herbalists, we believe using plants for health is the birthright of every living being. To
protect every person’s access to medicinal herbs and plants, and in consultation with experts, the CCHA, and our herbalist members, the Alberta Herbalists' Association has decided against pursuing government regulation for the time being.
I specialize in reproductive health (fertility, pregnancy, perimenopause), although I am happy to work with anyone who wants a perspective and guidance when it comes to nutrition, herbs, and supplements.
Appointments do not need to be pre-paid at the time of booking. When you are scheduling your first appointment with Fairfield Herbals, you will be required to submit a credit card number that will be used in case of no-shows. I require 24 hours notice for any cancellations.
Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged to the card on file, as this time could have been used by another client and effort has gone into preparing for your appointment.
I am happy to offer telehealth services for consults and follow-up appointments, either over the phone or with Zoom. I am happy to ship custom herbal formulations within Canada, and can arrange shipping of formulas to the United States as well. Shipping charges will apply.
